New membership applications will be reviewed and granted by and at the discretion of the Leadership (Co-chairs, Vice-chairs and Coordinators). Applicants will need to be of good standing and comply with the following procedures described below.
We have attached four documents to this email that illustrate and explain the framework of the WPaSG. The first is a Terms of Reference (ToRs) for members; the second is a figure showing the structure and current leaders; the third are the Guidelines/Community principles for members and the fourth is the Mandate for the WPaSG. We invite you to look at these attached documents prior to application.
The Co-Chairs reserve the right to remove or refuse membership to anyone not adhering to the Wild Parrot Specialist Group values described in the Terms of Reference (ToR), guidelines and ground rules, including violations of confidentiality and discretion required on all topics of discussion.
New members may be selected from the applicant pool waiting list or solicited based on need. Applicants will be accepted, declined (and provided terms for reapplication), or put on a waiting list for prospective-membership status.
Just a warning, if you are selected there will be more paperwork involved and you will need to join the SSC if you are not already a member; and it is strongly recommended that you join several other arms of the IUCN. More information will be forwarded if you are selected to serve. Upon acceptance, you will be entered into our SSC DATA portal and will be sent instructions and a password for your participation.
Finally, please feel free to share this information with other colleagues that they could be interested in joining the WPasG. We really want to reach as many people as possible.
Thank you for considering membership in the IUCN SSC WPaSG.
Warmly,
Co-chairs Dr. Patricia Latas and José Díaz
